School House Rocks - Figure Eight
Some of you may remember this School House Rock animated short - Figure Eight. This short first appeared on ABC television network, Saturday mornings in 1973. Some of you may also remember when school figures were an integral part of skating. Figures have been eliminated from international competition since 1990 and School House Rock was cancelled in 2001. I guess we will never see a Moves in the Field - School House Rock!
She's a Good Skate, Charlie Brown
Here is a clip from my favorite Peanuts TV Special, She's a good Skate, Charlie Brown, featuring Peppermint Patty figure skating. What's really nice about this clip is that the animation of her skating is actually pretty accurate. She opens with an Axel and continues on to skate a very high split jump and flip jump. She throws in, a back spiral and sit spin, and ends the routine with a loop jump and Double Salchow!
Will Vinton's Claymation Christmas

This scene from Will Vinton's Claymation Christmas features an interpretive ice ballet performed by walruses De Margo Pontoon and Sir Rudolph Nerves-on-edge. They are skating to "Angles We Have Heard On High".
